Cut the stock hand guard back?

I have a no-name fake suppressor (36.7mm external dia) that is just a little to big to get to the threads on the outer barrel. Existing stock min opening is 35mm. If I were to cut back the front of the handguard, I think I could make this work. Is there any issue with cutting back the handguard?

And if I do this, what is the recomend way to give the cut surface of the nyon a good finish, ie would just sanding look ok?

Use a fine tooth hacksaw in a cutting block for the initial cut, then a scrape a stanley knife (scalpel or razor blade is better), along the edges to take off any rough plastic burrs.

If you use sandpaper 120 wet and dry or higher and use it wet will sand/polish the nylon.

Would you do dremel, or is hacksaw prefered? (i have neither and would have to buy one)

Hacksaw - $5-$20, dremel - $50+

Could use either up to you. I personally prefer hacksaw because there’s lass chance of a fck up if you sneeze while cutting

Sometimes a quick light flame waved over it can also flash it off nicely
