M.xxx system spring to x.x mm spring conversion = .=?

I just realised that i might have made a mistake ordering spring for my ACR

the forum volumetric calculator section, under muzzle velocity,
the spring selection part says :
1.25 / M90 and 1.3 / M110
from that i assumed a M100 spring is roughly in between that like a 1.28 and such…
so i ordered one to change out the current ebay 1.2mm,
like its a couple steps up between 1.2 - 1.3mm,
thinking that it would be a safe little upgrade in terms of spring

but i just watched one of GalápagosJ’s vid and he mentioned that M100 is about 1.35-1.4 equivlent?

also, after a quick search in the forum i found a post about the difference between the two system,
and Calcifer said this,

so what is the actual conversion between the two system?
coz for my ACR, even it’s getting full internal upgrade with metal gear and ladder + high torque motor,
i am also building it to last, hence why i didn’t really want to go pass 1.3mm equivalent just yet,
but if the M100 does in fact equal to about 1.4mm,
then it’s might put a lot more stress on the nylon box which i really don’t want :disappointed_relieved:

can anyone please confirm ?

I have an m90 in my nylon box acr.
Crossing my fingers really when im using it.
300fps avg easy. I can replace ithe gears etc but would rather not destroy them if i can avoid it.

Swapping it to an m85 when they get here.
Id be shitting with a m100 in it as my metal/wood platinim AK with a metal v3 gearbox and gears and only has an m100 in it.

so this is where i say “ooopppssssss…” huh LOL
yah i really don’t wanna damage my box too soon,
even tho i do have a spare nylon one that some company send me instead of the clear one i ordered,
but i will order some M90 just to be safe

so with ur ACR that have the m90, do you have metal gears in it or stock nylon or what ever material they are?

Nylon. Only thing done to the box is air leaks sealed as best as i can and green o’ring.
Also when i tried my cheap chinese checkered 7.4 battery it really struggled pulling the m90 back when it was a bit low on charge.

While that is xforce springs it will be very similar
And my m130 kicks a lot harder than a 1.3

i didn’t notice any difference when i put in the 1.2 spring,
stock motor seems to pull it ok O_O
that means M90 is most likely stronger spring than 1.2…
lol and i was gonna put a M100 in mine

Yeah m90 is still very thick ,not sure exactly

Why we us fps instead of metric m/s is pretty funny. Converting back to an outdated method really lol.
Its because 330 fps sounds more impressive than 100m/s.
Which converts to 360kmh which sounds waaaaaaaay better

but what is each rating translate to in terms of MM spring tho

i think i’ve seen videos where they shoot stock with 1.2 spring and gets about 270-280fps,
that means really 1.2 spring is like M85 really = .=??

it like using HP vs KW i reckon LOL
just a higher number to make the figure look more impressive and exciting

Thats the problem with say a 1.2 .
How long is it ( 150mm? 180mm?)
Whats it made out of. This can mean having a 1.3 thats weaker than a 1.2 of another metal.
Uneven or even
Etc etc
Ive got a 1.2mm spring weaker than the stock 1.1mm.

… are they different length = .=?
i honestly thought they are only one standard size for all gel blaster and aeg

Yeah generally from 150 to 180 ive seen but all over the shop inbetween.
The m90 is quite long , again not sure exactly but its way longer than the 150mm stock

i’ve actually been wanting to ask this question,
what are the benifit of un-even springs? coz it seems most spring bigger than 1.1 are un-even,
but to me, uneven spring is more unpredictable when it comes to compression O_o
it might help with reducing a bit of impact if it works like car suspension spring,
but i really don’t see why people would want to use un-even springs

btw what brand of spring you use?
i figure if i stick to one brand, at lease i have a consistence material and spring length to work with as reference for my build O_O?

@icarus1314 basically yes. Softer on your plastic/nylon gears and gear box.

Not really 100%on the theory of it tbh.
Im using the red m spring brand i think its shs.
The m85s coming are in a blue box so different brand id say

arh so it is the same as suspension spring (i know spring is spring but yah )
i thought there were more reason for it like help spring travel more straight and stuff

yah i might order a couple different size from SHS just to be on the save side,
start low, and see what happens,
