I am trying to compile the names & contact details of Any Gel Blaster Retailers, Gel blaster fields, Gel Blaster Clubs (or any other businesses that might be adversely effected by a restriction or ban on Gel blasters. More businesses potentially damaged means more munitions to fight back with, particularly economic arguments. Plus businesses who band together can pool resources for any legal fight, more so than private citizens.
So if you have the name & details of a retailer, field or club please post it in here.
PS: I will consolidate these as much as I can as I go, to try and keep all fields together, retailers together & clubs together.
Warzone Skirmish (Which is owned and operated by and within Stony Creek Bush Camp Caravan Park)
23Burnett rd, Wilmington SA 5485
The owner has sent this off to SAPOL firearms branch today.
To whom it may concern,
I currently own and run WarZone Skirmish in Wilmington SA.
Having run Laser Skirmish for some years in my caravan park as an attraction, I struggled to get people to play and it became a not so attractive investment. Along came the Gelblaster toy and my attraction became very popular.
Presently having over 260 members sign up to use my field and hire the dozen blasters i supply. Recently my bookings have increased dramatically with companies now keen to run team building exercises for their employees. Party bookings for parents looking to interact with their children have tripled and even quadrupled.
I am quite suprised at how popular gelblasters have become.
Recently attracting people to book accommodation and dining within my caravan park. Stay’n’play has bought my dying business back to life from covid19 shutdowns.
Recently SAPOL have put a hold on imports of blasters, parts & ■■■■■■■■■■. This action has caused quite a big concern within the growing industry/sport. I find it difficult to move forward in accepting bookings knowing my blasters can break and not having parts to fix them enough to meet booking numbers. Thus SAPOL have hindered my business and halted my intentions to improve it.
Even if a new category is placed upon these toy blasters, insurance companies then have the right to place higher premiums onto the sport coverage. Thats an increase of $750 per quarter meaning its the insurance company getting all the profits. To pass on expenses to the members then outprices the activity for most people, effectively shutting the sport down as it did for paintball.
I ask that the SAPOL review find these toys to be just that “TOYS” and lifting of import bans so we can move forward in this business. I also ask that SAPOL adopt public relations with this activity such as the Qld’s
Stop and Think campaign.
I thankyou for your time,
Owner/Manager of WarZone Skirmish and Stony Creek Bush Camp Caravan park in Wilmington SA.
Some damn fine work there Mr Mephiston. I am staggered by the number of SA Gel Ball stores and groups. Then again I am but a newb at this with a little over four months complete involvement from zero knowledge to now. I am going to my first live field event tomorrow at Aldinga run by SUC, but only as an Observer and to sort membership out.
The common goal is to work together and be a united voice and only this way can we preserve what we have and show we are controlling our sport at as many levels as we can.
There will always be someone who is not like the rest of us and has ill intent, that is why we have a police force. I’m not going to hijack anymore, but impressive work so far. Many pats on the back mate…
Thanks mate, I actually thought there were more stores.
I was supposed to go to SUC today with my boys from SASF but I was notified Thursday arvo that I would be lumped with parental duties today instead enjoy in any case I must admit ive played games 3 weeks straight up to today, so cant complain too much.
List is getting big but please guys keep those suggestions coming in !
