Running In gears?

Does anyone run in new SHS gears, if so how?
I thinking of putting a few mag thru with a light gauge spring, then pulling it apart to check for wear. Does this sound correct, is there other things I should do or be mindful of?

After shimming I do but that really means squeeze, hold, listen, repeat

I’m looking for surface wear and grind noises when I’m doing this

Do u do rhat with or with out piston/spring installed o.o?

Without for starters I do :+1:

on a virgin build the paranoia progresses like this.

gear shimming test - no cylinder / compression test
tappet to sector gear - no cylinder
tappet number 2 - cylinder installed
whole system - lighter spring installed.

Thank you, I had a similar idea. If only run it gears only so far, it sounds good at this point. I’m going to run it with a light spring today, with me luck

Get some paint and paint the the teeth of the gears then run them. You will see where the gears rub and you will see where they are not touching. Do the same thing when building diffs and checking end float

You can’t run a gel blaster gearbox without a main spring? It slams the piston back and tries to chew itself up…

At least put a stock spring in it to test… or hold the spring in about where it needs to be by hand… The piston needs to be pushed home as soon as the sector gear lets go pop

No piston, no spring, no plunger, no popcorn, no porn. Read again.
